Senior Digital PR Strategist
Depth held consistently across several accounts and sectors, including the ones where the story is hard to find. The thinking is no longer a good few months; it is a consistent and reliable standard that others learn from. You own a larger set of client accounts directly and do the work on them yourself, rather than through a team. You extend your expertise in digital PR across account types and become the person others learn from.
How this role differs
You move from owning the thinking on a set of accounts to holding it consistently across several accounts and client types, and to mentoring others by craft.
The Senior Strategist has the final say on creative direction and strategy, and develops others by sharing specialist expertise. The Senior Digital PR Lead is accountable for the team's delivery, quality of work and professional development.
Roles and responsibilities
- Hold creative coherence across accounts, so campaigns build rather than restart each month.
- Make the call to stop a campaign that is not landing, with the evidence for it.
- Know which journalists and outlets matter per sector rather than per list.
- Hold senior client conversations on creative direction without a Head of present.
- Mentor by craft: Executives and Leads bring concepts to you to be pulled apart.
- Propose a new strategy when campaigns are not delivering results, explaining the reasoning clearly to build client trust and confidence in the next steps.
- Working towards owning a minimum of 6 client accounts (or £20k MRR) directly, doing the work on them yourself.
- Prepare and present quarterly business reviews, actively upselling when appropriate without senior management present.
- Support the sales team in scoping & closing new projects and proactively upselling.
- Build roadmaps that survive changing conditions because the underlying logic is sound.
- Spot patterns across the portfolio and test what worked on one account on another.
- Contribute to improving the Digital PR offering and its delivery by taking part in discussions, sharing ideas and raising concerns.
- Work alongside management to ensure ideas, campaigns and day-to-day activity align with commercial KPIs and business priorities.
- Get ahead of problems and communicate before they become issues.
