Senior Data & Insights Strategist
Measurement depth, held consistently across several accounts and question types. The thinking is no longer a good few months; it is a consistent and reliable standard that others learn from. You work independently across a wider range of client projects, adding value through the depth of your analysis. You extend your expertise in data and insights across question types and become the person others learn from.
How this role differs
You move from owning the thinking on a set of accounts to holding it consistently across several accounts and client types, and to mentoring others by craft.
The Senior Strategist is the person the hardest measurement questions reach, and mentors by craft. The Senior Data & Insights Lead is accountable for a team's reporting quality and for developing them.
Roles and responsibilities
- Design research and measurement approaches for complex or ambiguous briefs, clarifying the question, intended use and evidence required before work begins.
- Resolve escalated methodological challenges across accounts, including conflicting sources, incomplete datasets and comparisons that need careful interpretation.
- Assess whether datasets can credibly be combined or compared, accounting for differences in definitions, collection methods, time periods and coverage.
- Decide when a metric, source or method should be revised or replaced because it no longer answers the question reliably.
- Work with PR and SEO leads to strengthen campaign ideas and strategic recommendations, challenging claims that go beyond the evidence.
- Independently lead methodology and measurement conversations with senior client stakeholders, handling pushback and explaining uncertainty clearly.
- Turn successful approaches into reusable methods and guidance, explaining when they are appropriate and where their limitations lie.
- Develop Executives, Leads and Strategists through specialist coaching and reviews that strengthen their analytical judgement.
- Get ahead of problems and communicate before they become issues.
- Work independently across a wider range of client projects, adding value through the depth of your analysis.
- Contribute to improving the Data & Insights offering and its delivery by taking part in discussions, sharing ideas and raising concerns.
- Work alongside management to make sure data work aligns with commercial KPIs and business priorities.
- Support the sales team in scoping new projects.
